At Least Three Women Were Exposed and Trampled: Human Rights Defender on Azerbaijani Atrocities
The Human Rights Defender has gathered new video footage regarding Azerbaijan's military aggression and is currently analyzing these materials. This was announced during a discussion on "War Crimes: Torture, Murder, Possible Ways to Hold Azerbaijan Criminally Accountable" held today at the Media Center.
Laura Gasparyan, head of the Torture and Ill-Treatment Prevention Department of the Human Rights Defender’s office, noted that a second report will soon be published. She mentioned that videos evidencing the torture and cruel treatment of Armenian prisoners of war following the Turkish-Azerbaijani military aggression that began on September 13 have been attached to the previous report and sent to international organizations. The process is ongoing.
Summarizing the damage caused by Azerbaijan's military aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia, she said: “We have 7,600 evacuated individuals, including 1,500 children, and nearly a hundred persons with disabilities. Unfortunately, we had two women and one man with disabilities who were unable to leave and remained in areas of military operations. There has been damage to infrastructure, including schools, municipal buildings, the Jermuk ski lift, cafes, health resorts, and damage to electric networks and the Emergency Situations Ministry building, among various other infrastructure damage.”
Speaking about the Azerbaijani atrocities during the military aggression that began on September 13, Laura Gasparyan said, “The same cruelty and more. We are receiving extremely brutal images, with the only distinguishing fact being that there has been particular cruelty towards women during this aggression. We have observed extreme manifestations of cruel treatment towards female soldiers and civilians, which have been discussed in the report, including poor treatment of bodies, documented cases of torture. For example, amputations of various body parts, exposure, humiliation, degradation. At least three women have been exposed in the chest area and trampled. Considering the women's bodies were exposed, the clothing they were wearing suggests that one of them was a civilian. One of the three was a civilian. The data is being verified.”
The head of the Torture and Ill-Treatment Prevention Department added that they are collecting all videos and recordings in a 24-hour regime, after which Azerbaijani experts will decipher and analyze the phenomena episode by episode.
