Andreasian, Badasyan, and Simindyan on the Incident at Yerablur
"I can say that regardless of all circumstances, we all bow our heads before our victims and their relatives," said Minister of Justice Karen Andreasian in an interview with MediHub, addressing the violence used by police against relatives of fallen soldiers at the "Yerablur" military pantheon.
At the same time, Andreasian reminded that the police have already announced the initiation of an internal service investigation to understand how necessary that force was. "I was not personally present and cannot comment on the details. However, I must request that regardless of how much we honor and respect the memory of our victims, we should all also respect the laws. But this is not my commentary on the incident; this is a general observation," Andreasian noted in the interview.
On the moral level, how should the incident be viewed? Andreasian is confident that this is not a topic for off-the-cuff remarks, but a very delicate question. "We have situations where people's grief is politicized, or there are individuals trying to exploit it. Of course, state bodies do not always act appropriately towards all our citizens. In any case, it's a very complex issue," he emphasized.
When asked if it was a political provocation for the police to open a path for Prime Minister Pashinyan, Karen Andreasian assured that the police are not carrying out any political orders.
Head of the State Revenue Committee Rustam Badasyan stated that he is unaware of what happened yesterday at the "Yerablur" military pantheon. "I am not aware," he said.
To the note about the violence against the parents of the fallen soldiers, aimed at allowing government members access to the pantheon, Badasyan responded with the same answer: "I am not aware."
MediHub also spoke with Minister of Environment Hakob Simindyan. When asked if he was at the "Yerablur" military pantheon yesterday, Simindyan responded affirmatively. To the note that their path was cleared with disrespect while relatives of the fallen were subjected to violence, he replied, saying, "That is our commentary."
