Human Rights Defender's Response to the Incident at Yerablur

This morning, in connection with the administrative detention of the parents of fallen soldiers and other citizens by police officers at the Yerablur Pantheon, the staff of the Human Rights Defender (HRD) conducted a rapid response. They established contact with relevant police departments to ensure the rights of those detained administratively.

The Defender notes that under any circumstances, especially in such sensitive and emotionally charged situations, police officers must act with strict proportionality and refrain from physical intervention. Otherwise, it is unacceptable.

An investigation has been initiated within the HRD's office regarding the incident, during which the Defender will demand detailed clarifications from the police, including concerning the actions of individual officers.
