Vardapetyan Dismisses Yerevan Prosecutor

The Chief Prosecutor of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, has dismissed Sevak Hovhannisyan from his position as Deputy Military Prosecutor of the Republic of Armenia.

The order states: "Based on S. Hovhannisyan's application and guided by point 7 of part 2 of Article 9 and part 3 of Article 30, as well as point 1 of part 1 of Article 62 of the Law on the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia, I hereby order the dismissal of Sevak Alfred Hovhannisyan from his position as Deputy Military Prosecutor effective September 19."

According to Tert, it was known that Sevak Hovhannisyan was appointed to this position by Anna Vardapetyan, after dismissing him from the position of Yerevan Prosecutor. Previously, it had been reported that the Military Prosecutor Vahé Harutyunyan had submitted a resignation request before Anna Vardapetyan assumed office. Gurgen Hakobyan has been appointed as the acting Military Prosecutor in the meantime. In the Yerevan Prosecutor's Office, acting Deputy Prosecutor Lilit Grigoryan has been appointed.
