There is No Party Politics, If There Were, I Would Create My Own: Tatoyan
The former Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, stated today that he participated in a spontaneous gathering near the Armenian National Assembly as a citizen of Armenia and not as a member of any political movement. He made this announcement during a press conference.
"That was a spontaneous gathering, I participated as a participant of the gathering. I spoke out as a citizen of Armenia to express my concerns, which contained nothing new; my statements were not news. It was not a political movement, I have not been involved in such processes, and I’m not. I have always said that if I deem it appropriate to announce something, I will do that," Tatoyan noted.
Tatoyan has established a new foundation and elaborated on the activities it will undertake.
It is worth recalling that on September 14, many citizens of Armenia decided to stage a protest following Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement in parliament that the Armenian side wishes to sign a document that could lead many to label them traitors, but they would be glad and thankful for the long-lasting peace that Armenia would gain over 29,800 square kilometers of territory. The citizens demanded a resolution to the issue of liberation of their homeland and called for the resignation of Pashinyan and the current government. They urged opposition MPs to initiate a vote of no confidence against the Prime Minister and begin a signature collection. Only 35 votes were collected, falling short of the additional 18 votes needed from the ruling party members, which never materialized.
