Azerbaijan Has Not Provided Information to the Red Cross About Captured Armenian Individuals; Contact With Prisoners Remains Unsuccessful
As a result of Azerbaijan's military aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia on the night of September 12-13, there has been no success in establishing contact with the individuals captured, according to a representative from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Armenia, Zara Amatuni.
“The information we have provided has not yet been confirmed by Azerbaijan. As long as the detaining party, meaning Azerbaijan, does not confirm that these individuals have been captured and are in their custody, we remain in a waiting state, and we have no contact with them. Of course, we are in communication with both the Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities. We also have information received from families regarding possible captures of their relatives. We are also awaiting confirmations on that information,” said Amatuni, adding that they would inform families as soon as confirmations are received.
It is noteworthy that yesterday, the Armenian Security Council issued a statement saying that during the recent aggression, Azerbaijan has captured at least 20 Armenian servicemen. Recently, it became known that two wounded captured Armenian servicemen were killed in Baku, and their bodies were among the 32 Armenian corpses handed over by Baku to Armenia on September 17.
