Soldier Davit Gishyan Killed in Captivity, Armenian Representative on International Legal Issues Reports

Family members have recognized serviceman Davit Gishyan, born in 2002, from a video that surfaced on Azerbaijani Telegram channels. The footage revealed that Davit Gishyan had sustained a shoulder injury and was in captivity.

Hasmik Samvelyan, spokesperson for the Armenian representation on International Legal Issues, informed NEWS.am that Davit Gishyan was killed while in captivity.

Samvelyan stated that they have already sent a letter to the European Court, noting, “Azerbaijan has grossly violated Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights. We have also filed under Article 3, which protects individuals from torture and inhumane treatment. We demand urgent measures against Azerbaijan.”

The spokesperson mentioned that they also plan to appeal to The Hague Court.

It should be noted that Davit Gishyan was one of the 32 bodies returned by Azerbaijan.
