This Raises Serious Doubts About Iran's Intentions: European Trio Releases Joint Statement
Germany, France, and the United Kingdom believe that Iran's stance on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action regarding its nuclear program jeopardizes the prospects of resuming the agreement, as stated in the joint statement released by the German Foreign Ministry on Saturday.
The statement notes that Iran continues to develop its nuclear program, "exceeding the frameworks," which could justify it under "civilian considerations." It mentions that as the agreement approached, Tehran again raised certain issues related to its obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the safeguards agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
“This latest demand raises serious doubts about Iran’s intentions and the commitment to a successful outcome of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Iran's position contradicts its legally binding obligations and jeopardizes the prospects for the restoration of the JCPOA,” the statement reads.
Berlin, Paris, and London have called on Tehran to cooperate with the IAEA, emphasizing that Iran must provide "technically reliable answers" to the IAEA’s questions regarding the location of all nuclear materials in the country.
