Mirzoyan on Aliyev's Statement

Mirzoyan on Aliyev's Statement

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, has addressed certain speculations regarding the Brussels meeting held on August 31. "Let’s recall that yesterday, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that the process of preparing a peace agreement by the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be based on five proposals from Azerbaijan, which have been accepted by Armenia.

The Armenian side's view on the five points proposed by Azerbaijan remains unchanged. As we have stated before, there is nothing unacceptable for us in the proposals submitted by Azerbaijan on March 10, 2022. The issue is that these proposals do not address all the questions of the Armenia-Azerbaijan comprehensive peace agenda. With our response sent to the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group, we have supplemented the agenda and, therefore, are ready for the continuation of peace negotiations based on that framework.

This has once again been reaffirmed by Prime Minister Pashinyan during the latest discussions held in Brussels. The attempts to ignore or disregard this viewpoint give the Armenian side grounds to doubt the sincerity of Azerbaijan's intentions to achieve peace. Moreover, the arbitrary, factually inaccurate interpretations of the continuation of negotiations and the avoidance of fulfilling agreements allow us to think that Azerbaijan aims to sabotage the peace process and continues its policy of ethnic cleansing through the use of force," said Mirzoyan.
