Tavush Resident Confesses to Accidentally Shooting 61-year-old Man and Disposing of Body in Lake
The police have solved the murder that occurred on September 6 in the Tavush region. This was reported by the Republic of Armenia Police.
On September 6, the body of a man with unidentified identity and bodily injuries was found in the lake of the Berkaber community in Tavush. As a result of the measures taken by the Ijevan police, it was revealed that the body belonged to 61-year-old Vrej P., who had been reported missing since September 3.
A criminal case was initiated under Article 155 of the RA Criminal Code (Murder). Officers from the Investigative Department of the Tavush Regional Police, Ijevan Division, and the Tavush Regional Administration’s investigative unit, having utilized operational data, arrested a 57-year-old resident of Aygehovit on September 8 and transferred him to the Ijevan police department.
He confessed that on September 3, at approximately 17:30, he accidentally shot Vrej P. in the chest with a hunting rifle in one of the gardens in Aygehovit, resulting in the latter's death. To conceal the act, he transported the body in his “GAZ-24” vehicle to the Berkaber community and, tying the feet with concrete pillars, disposed of it in the lake.
The 57-year-old man has been arrested, and an investigation is underway.
