Two Armenian Citizens Arrested for Attempting to Smuggle Drugs into Georgia
At the Sadakhlo customs checkpoint on the Georgia-Armenia border, two citizens of the Republic of Armenia, born in 1998 and 1996, were arrested as a result of an operational-search action conducted by officers of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. This was reported by Aliq.ge.
The individuals are accused of illegally crossing the state border of Georgia, as well as illegal acquisition, possession, and importation of narcotics into Georgian territory. The accused face a potential prison sentence of up to 12 years.
The investigation revealed that the suspects illegally crossed the state border of Georgia by circumventing the customs checkpoint and imported 12 packages of the narcotic “Alpha PVP.”
The investigation is being conducted under the second part of Article 344, subsection “a,” the third part of Article 260, subsection “b,” and the second part of Article 262, subsection “b” of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
