20-year-old soldier killed by Azerbaijani fire received fatal injury to the head
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the death of a 20-year-old soldier who was killed by gunfire from the Azerbaijani Armed Forces at one of the combat positions on the eastern border of Armenia. This information was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
It was revealed that on the evening of September 5, conscript soldier Arman Sargsyan sustained a fatal gunshot wound at a combat position located in the eastern part of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border zone.
“According to preliminary information, a soldier of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired towards the combat position located in the protection area of the RA Ministry of Defense’s unit number N, resulting in conscript soldier Arman Gagik Sargsyan receiving a fatal gunshot wound to the head,” the statement said.
It is noted that a criminal case has been initiated under Article 155, part 2, point 1 of the RA Criminal Code (Murder committed in connection with the victim's state, political, service, professional, or social activities or in the performance of a duty) and point 15 (Murder committed out of hatred or intolerance based on racial, national, ethnic or social origin, religion, political or other beliefs, or other personal or social circumstances).
In an interview with the Factinfo website, Gegharkunik Governor Karen Sargsyan stated that the adversary fired towards the positions in the villages of Nerkhin Shorja and Akhpradzor. He emphasized that there were brief bursts of fire.
Karen Sargsyan also mentioned that the deceased Arman Sargsyan was from the village of Malishka in Vayots Dzor.
