“The Time to Hold Them Accountable is Not ‘Behind the Mountains’”: Petrosyan

The head of the Republic of Armenia's State Oversight Service, Romanos Petrosyan, wrote on his Facebook page: “In recent days, there has been an intensification of a clearly defamatory torrent of commissioned articles directed at my person and activities, which is being carried out by dozens of ‘media outlets,’ numerous paid scribblers, and certain unpatriotic and contemptible scoundrels who recognize no ‘red lines’ and have no ‘sacredness.’ Therefore, the only possible motivation for such behavior is perhaps money, possibly a lot of money…

And they slander without any restraint—ranging from the most absurd and illogical ‘accusations’ to the most disgusting and, in any case, incomprehensible to a sober-minded person direct ‘charges.’ And they do all this with a ‘very serious’ expression on their faces, seasoning it with clearly fabricated ‘details,’ referring to some anonymous sources or fictitious address holders in order to seem more convincing.

Anyway, once again, I must disappoint these ‘tools’ and their abundantly rewarding patrons (regardless of what specific circles they represent): fortunately, in our country, and in general, the type of people who are sober-minded and can distinguish ‘wet from dry’ is overwhelmingly dominant and constitutes the overwhelming majority of the public, whom you cannot convince with your fabricated and imaginary ‘facts’ and false testimonies about something that simply does not exist, does not exist, and in the case of specific individuals, it is categorically excluded from the outset—excluded by their nature, if you will, also by Providence...

However, you can be assured of one thing: I guarantee that the time for holding them accountable will come, and it is not ‘behind the mountains.’ Accountability will be demanded on legal, political, and moral grounds. We know everyone—name by name, from the initiators to the performers, from the intermediaries to the commissions (where these people are even dishonest towards each other)... And my biography and public-political activities are visible to everyone; I have always been and will continue to be open and accessible to the public, acting in front of everyone and continuing to act solely for the Republic of Armenia and its citizens...

And my life’s creed, as always, remains the same: to remain a human being in any situation and status,” wrote the head of the State Oversight Service.
