Azerbaijanis Set Tires on Fire and Rolled Them Down the Slope: Fire in Norabak Cannot Be Extinguished

In the mountains near the village of Norabak in the Gegharkunik region, a fire has broken out, caused by Azerbaijanis who have set tires on fire and rolled them down the slope. This information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by Vazgen Asatryan, the administrative head of Norabak.

According to him, the fire has not been extinguished since yesterday. “The fire broke out near the Azerbaijani positions 4 days ago, at midnight. We have seen how they are burning the tires and rolling them down the slope,” said Asatryan.

He noted that the wind is blowing in the opposite direction, carrying the fire mainly toward the area controlled by the enemy. Nevertheless, they are not taking any action to extinguish the fire. “In other words, there is no possibility to extinguish it. Our firefighters simply cannot approach that area as it is dangerous. The fire must reach the village before anything can be done,” Asatryan explained.

He added that the hay in the adjacent fields has not been fully harvested, and if the fire reaches the hay, the villagers will lose that as well.

It is worth mentioning that yesterday the Gegharkunik regional crisis management center received a report that a fire had broken out in the mountains near the city of Vardenis. It turned out that the fire had ignited near the mountains close to the villages of Norabak and Nerkin Shorja. An operational group from the regional emergency rescue department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene.
