New Charges Filed Against Arzumanyan
Former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army and advisor to the President of Artsakh, Mikael Arzumanyan, has been faced with new charges. This was reported to MediaHub.am by Arzumanyan's lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan.
“Currently, legal proceedings are underway. I will provide additional information later,” he said.
It is noteworthy that earlier, the lawyer announced on his Facebook page that Mikael Arzumanyan had been detained. “As expected, the court fulfilled its mission and detained Mikael Arzumanyan. The show goes on…” he wrote.
Recall that on August 30, it became known that Mikael Arzumanyan had been arrested for committing official negligence during the organization of protection in the city of Shushi and adjacent areas. According to the Investigative Committee, extensive investigative actions revealed that the lieutenant general had displayed negligence towards his official duties from October 30 to November 9, 2020, during the organization of protection in Shushi and the surrounding areas, failing to execute or improperly executing his responsibilities, which carelessly led to severe consequences.
On August 31, the detention period of Arzumanyan expired and he was released, while it became clear that a motion for his detention had been submitted to the court.
Arzumanyan was appointed commander of the Defense Army at the final stage of the 44-day war, on October 27, 2020, replacing Jalal Harutyunyan, and was dismissed in September 2021.
