Fidanian Discusses Incident Involving Turks

An incident involving a group of individuals occurred in Vedi, and clarifications are currently underway as authorities identify those involved. Ara Fidanian, the Deputy Police Chief, made this statement during a press briefing following a government session on September 1. This incident involves citizens of Turkey.

“The police were notified of an incident where there was a scuffle and argument between a group of people, to which the police responded,” he said.

When asked about eyewitness claims that the police had been present for a considerable amount of time and did not take any action, the Deputy Chief called for caution regarding anonymous sources. “All circumstances will be clarified and presented. The incident occurred hours ago,” he noted.

In response to concerns about the possibility of the same individuals continuing to argue, Fidanian replied, “Of course there are concerns, but more comprehensive measures need to be taken. If there are concerns, should these individuals continuously be kept in custody? If there are no grounds, they should be released immediately.”

Earlier, media reports indicated that an incident occurred at night involving Turks in Vedi, where they allegedly insulted Armenians at the Vedi train station. It has been reported that the participants in the incident are Turkish citizens, a married couple.
