Any Action Against Russian Peacekeepers Will Be Considered an Attack on Russia: Lavrov
Any action against Russian military personnel in Transnistria will be regarded as an attack on Russia, stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a speech at the Russian Institute of International Relations.
“Everyone must understand that any action that threatens the safety of our military personnel (in Transnistria), in accordance with international law, will be considered an attack on Russia, just as it was in South Ossetia when (former Georgian President Mikhail) Saakashvili attacked our peacekeepers,” Lavrov warned.
Russian peacekeeping forces have been stationed in Transnistria since 1992.
