What Did Pashinyan, Aliyev, and Michel Agree On?
On August 31, in Brussels, a meeting took place between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, mediated by Charles Michel, the President of the European Council.
The discussions focused on the release of prisoners and clarifying the fate of those missing, delimitation and border security, regional unblocking, the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, and issues related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
An agreement was reached to continue substantive negotiations on the draft peace treaty at the level of Foreign Ministers. The Foreign Ministers meeting will occur within a month.
The next session of the commission on delimitation and border security will take place in Brussels in November. The next meeting in the leaders' format is also scheduled for November.
