Photos: Which Famous Painting Did Zakharova Use to Respond to EU Members?
Russia has no intention of causing the collapse of Europe, said Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a Wednesday broadcast on Sputnik radio.
"We are not aimed at the division of Europe. That has never been our issue. If we are directed towards something, it is the return of common sense to international relations," Zakharova stated.
According to Zakharova, the members of the European Union resemble the characters in Pieter Bruegel's painting "The Blind Leading the Blind," who do not express doubts or objections, do not ask questions or complain, but instead march in a group towards the edge of a cliff.
