Azerbaijanis Set Fire to Homes Under Their Control in Front of Taghavard Residents

The upper part of the Taghavard community in the Martuni region of Artsakh, which has been under Azerbaijani control since the 44-day war, was shrouded in smoke yesterday. Azerbaijani occupiers set ablaze the properties belonging to the forcibly displaced residents of Taghavard in that area, including barns, gardens, and several houses.

Rudik Badasyan, a resident of Taghavard, spoke with “Factinfo.” “It was around 14:30 when we noticed smoke rising from the upper part of the village, which is under the control of the Azerbaijanis. Suddenly, we saw that houses were burning: one barn, another garden, and another house. We stood there, watching as they set fire to our homes… At least 8-10 houses have been burned down. They probably saw the people gathering and looking in that direction, and a little later, a fire truck arrived, but they did absolutely nothing; not even for show did they lift a hose,” Badasyan said.

Badasyan, whose house is also in the area now under enemy control, confesses that the most shocking and painful aspect was witnessing, yesterday, parts of the life he built being burned to the ground by the Turks, reduced to ashes, while he could do nothing.
