Motion to Arrest Mikhail Arzumanyan Submitted
The Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction has received a motion to arrest Mikhail Arzumanyan, the former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army. This was reported by the spokesperson of the Investigation Committee, Vardan Tadevosyan, who added that since Arzumanyan's detention period has expired, he has been released.
Arzumanyan's lawyer, Yerem Sargsyan, noted that the motion for his client's arrest as a measure of restraint will be considered on August 31 at 19:00.
According to the statement released by the Investigative Committee, Mikhail Arzumanyan has been charged with military negligence. The statement indicates that extensive investigative and procedural actions have revealed that during the war and under the conditions of martial law, from October 30 to November 9, 2020, the lieutenant general exhibited neglect towards his official duties while organizing the defense of the city of Shushi and surrounding areas. Such actions have carelessly led to severe consequences, as enemy armed forces completely took control of the city of Shushi and its outskirts, resulting in casualties and injuries among his own troops.
