Avetik Chalabyan to Be Released on Bail

Public and political figure Avetik Chalabyan will be released on bail. The Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Rouzanna Barseghyan, granted the appeal filed by Chalabyan’s defense against the decision to detain him, thereby overturning the ruling of the first-instance court. The court applied bail as a preventive measure against Chalabyan, set at 15 million drams, and he will be released after this amount is transferred to the court's deposit account.

It should be noted that the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, chaired by Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan, had decided to detain Avetik Chalabyan on August 3. Furthermore, the prosecutor had himself requested during the court session that bail be applied to Chalabyan, arguing that it could prevent inappropriate behavior. The defense filed an appeal against the detention decision, during which the prosecutor also stated that bail could ensure Chalabyan's proper behavior.
