Allowed Heating Temperature to Be Set This Winter Amid Energy Crisis in Germany

In Germany, amid the ongoing energy crisis, the authorities will set a permissible heating temperature limit for public institutions. This was stated by the country’s Minister of Economics, Robert Habeck, in an interview with Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

According to the new regulations, the temperature in heated areas cannot exceed 19 degrees Celsius. The new rules will also restrict heating temperatures in hospitals, social institutions, and other public places.

Earlier, the largest incineration plant in Hesse transitioned to round-the-clock operations due to a gas shortage. According to plant manager Karl-Heinz Kengsen, a large volume of gas is required each time the furnaces are heated. More gas can be conserved by maintaining the existing temperature. He also added that work is already being organized according to a new schedule.
