Why was the former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army arrested?

Just now, Politik.am reported that Mikayel Arzumanyan, the former Minister of Defense and commander of the Defense Army of the Artsakh Republic, was arrested and taken into custody while traveling from Artsakh to Yerevan. The reasons for his arrest are not formally known yet. It is also unclear whether Arzumanyan had previously been summoned for questioning in any capacity and refused, prompting law enforcement to decide on his arrest.

According to ArmLur.am, the former commander is currently being interrogated at the Military Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee, but no charges have been filed against him yet. It has also been reported that he was invited for questioning in relation to a criminal case initiated regarding the circumstances of the 44-day war.

It is worth mentioning that today, parents of the deceased and missing individuals are staging a protest in front of the Armenian Prosecutor General's Office, demanding the arrest of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. In light of this, ArmLur.am learned that Mikayel Arzumanyan was arrested in anticipation of the protest by the parents of the war participants, to show that accountability is being enforced for the commander of the Artsakh Defense Army during the 44-day war.

It is recalled that during the 44-day war, following Jalal Harutyunyan's injury, Mikayel Arzumanyan was appointed as the commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, in whose tenure the war ended with a defeat for the Armenian army.
