Press Secretary of Artsakh President on the Arrest of Mikayel Arzumanyan
The President of the Artsakh Republic has not been informed about the arrest of Mikayel Arzumanyan, the former Minister of Defense and former Commander of the Defense Army, who is currently the chief advisor to the President.
In response to a question from “Artsakhpress,” the President’s Press Secretary Lusine Avanesyan stated: “President Harutyunyan considers General Arzumanyan one of our best commanders, who has a glorious past. His efforts during the 2020 war are undeniable. Although he took command of the army only 12 days before the end of the war, he made significant efforts to effectively conduct military operations. We hope that the circumstances of the arrest will be clarified soon. The developments regarding General Arzumanyan’s arrest are under the close attention of President Harutyunyan,” Avanesyan noted.
Earlier, reports circulated in the media that Chief Advisor Mikayel Arzumanyan was detained while traveling from Artsakh to Yerevan at the request of investigators from the Military Department of the Armenian Investigative Committee.
