Man Killed Neighbor with Blows from Wood and Stone

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated at the Berd Investigative Division of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia in the Tavush region, all circumstances surrounding the murder of a neighbor by a 39-year-old resident of Ayghedzor community have been clarified.

According to the factual data obtained during the investigation, the residents of Ayghedzor community had disagreements over financial and personal matters. On October 13, 2021, the 39-year-old man visited his neighbor's house at the latter's invitation, and from there, upon the neighbor's suggestion, they headed towards Berd city in the neighbor's "VAZ 2106" car.

After passing through the mentioned city and reaching an area adjacent to the village of Vazashen, the neighbor drove off the main road, traveled about 30 meters along a forest road, and stopped. Then, following the neighbor's instruction to continue walking, another argument arose between the two regarding the aforementioned issues, during which the 39-year-old man struck his neighbor multiple times with a piece of wood and stones. Upon seeing that the neighbor had become motionless, he fled the scene.

Based on a sufficient combination of evidence, the 39-year-old man has been charged under part 1 of Article 104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia adopted in 2003 (which corresponds to part 1 of Article 155 of the current Criminal Code). The measure of restraint applied against him is detention. The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the materials of the criminal case have been sent to the prosecutor conducting the proceedings for approval of the indictment and submission to the court.
