We express our gratitude for the special role of Russian peacekeepers, says Armenian Foreign Ministry
The Armenian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement regarding the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, which notably states:
“Today marks the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, which significantly outlined the principles and priorities of inter-state relations between the two countries. This key document has delineated the milestones for the advancement of Armenian-Russian allied relations in the spirit of centuries-old brotherhood, trust, and mutual respect.
The past period has convincingly demonstrated that the further strengthening of historical ties between Yerevan and Moscow is entirely in line with the vital interests of our peoples, serving the socio-economic development goals of both countries and the reinforcement of stability in the South Caucasus. We are successfully advancing in a wide range of areas of cooperation, enriching it with concrete content and enhancing the effectiveness of interaction.
We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to continue close, mutually trustworthy dialogue in all directions and to maximize the potential of cooperation for the consistent development of relations between Armenia and Russia.
The periodic contacts based on trust between the leadership of Armenia and Russia are crucial for the development of the potential of bilateral relations, allowing us not only to solve existing problems but also to coordinate positions on significant regional and international issues.
During the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, to Russia from April 19 to 20, 2022, the joint statement made by the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, recorded the intention to comprehensively deepen and expand inter-state relations based on the principles enshrined in the 1997 Treaty.
In this regard, we express our gratitude for the special role of Russian peacekeepers, which is aimed at ensuring the necessary conditions for the peaceful and dignified restoration of life for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. The effective measures taken by the Russian side aimed at establishing comprehensive peace, a climate of trust, and prosperity in the South Caucasus are highly valued in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
We are convinced that the path to establishing stability in the region is the clear implementation of the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, and November 26. We greatly appreciate our friendship with brotherly Russia and are determined to further strengthen Armenian-Russian allied relations for the benefit of our countries and peoples’ prosperity,” the statement concludes.
