US Ambassador Ignores Invitation to Visit Shushi, Sparks Dissent in Azerbaijan

The US Embassy in Azerbaijan has responded to the complaints of Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, regarding the US ambassador's disregard for an invitation to visit the city of Shushi.

In response to a query from "Voice of America," a spokesperson for the embassy stated, “The United States believes that through ongoing dialogue and cooperation, we can do everything possible to promote sustainable and comprehensive peace. As we have said before, there is no greater champion of Azerbaijan’s independence and sovereignty than the United States.”

Additionally, the embassy representative noted that US embassy staff have made trips and continue to travel throughout all regions of Azerbaijan.
