City Mayor: "I think if the fine is 200,000 instead of 30,000, the driver will consider how to drive without polluting the city"
During a consultative meeting at the Yerevan City Hall, the mayor's advisor Kamo Areyan mentioned that there is a government decision regulating the transportation of goods from province to province, which is not applied in Yerevan. According to the amount of cargo, this is implemented on interstate highways.
He noted that concrete mixers and other trucks entering Yerevan from the provinces are crushing the hot asphalt in sloping areas. Speaking about the fine of 30,000 drams for pollution by drivers on the roadway, the mayor said: "I believe that if the fine is 200,000 instead of 30,000, that driver, I assume, will earn about 200,000 a month, right? I think they will consider how to drive without polluting the city," he emphasized.
