2 Killed and 19 Injured During Protests in Baghdad
Two people were killed and 19 protesters injured as police dispersed a demonstration in Baghdad.
In the Iraqi capital, a state of emergency has been declared, and troops have been deployed into the city. This information was reported by Lenta dnya. It is currently unclear who opened fire on the protesters. Local publications report that Iraqi security forces have taken full control of the Republican Palace in Baghdad, and tear gas was used against supporters of Muqtada al-Sadr.
It is worth noting that Muqtada al-Sadr, a leading figure of one of Iraq's largest political factions, announced his withdrawal from politics, as his supporters have been holding mass protests.
