Turkey's Foreign Ministry Responds to Macron's Statements

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has called on French President Emmanuel Macron to acknowledge France's colonial past and its impact on relations with the African continent. This was reported by РИА Новости.

In this context, the ministry reacted to Macron's statements made during his visit to Algeria. The French President stated in his speech that there are "neocolonial structures in Turkey, Russia, and China that exhibit activity and imperialistic agendas," which contradict the principles of the Fifth Republic.

In response, Tanju Bilgic, a representative of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, emphasized the unacceptability of the French leader's accusations and called on the country to recognize its own colonial past and understand its consequences.

"We hope that France will soon be able to recognize the consequences of its colonial past and will not attempt to escape historical realities by casting shadows on Turkey or any other country," Bilgic's statement read.
