The U.S. Expands Maritime Arms Supply to Ukraine, Reports The Washington Post
The Pentagon has expanded maritime arms supplies to Ukraine, according to The Washington Post, citing U.S. Department of Defense representatives.
The Defense Department began sending supplies by sea a few weeks after the onset of the Ukrainian conflict but significantly ramped up efforts this spring when it started delivering artillery and other heavy weapons to Ukraine.
“When we started supplying them with howitzers, we realized that we needed more ammunition. This allowed us to plan a bit more, and then we could begin utilizing more shipments to provide that support, sometimes even sooner than required,” said Colonel Stephen Puthoff, deputy director of operations at the U.S. Transportation Command.
