What Was the Health Condition of the Pregnant Woman When Transferred from Vanadzor to Yerevan?

In response to the message disseminated by the Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics, and Gynecology, we find it necessary to present the following clarifications. This was stated in a press release from the Vanadzor Medical Center.

The deceased expectant mother, M. G., was admitted to the obstetric-gynecological department of the Vanadzor Medical Center on August 22 at approximately 18:40, experiencing severe pain. Immediate examinations were carried out, and consultations with narrow specialists were organized. The pregnant woman was diagnosed with right-side lumbosacral pain. Appropriate treatment was prescribed by the specialists.

On August 24, the pregnant woman began to experience chest pain again, prompting the call for a therapist and a neurologist, with a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan recommended (this scan is not conducted at the Vanadzor Medical Center). Contact was established with the Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics, and Gynecology, and it was agreed to transfer the pregnant woman to their facility. However, hours later, this institution suggested that the transfer take place the following day, that is, yesterday, August 25.

At the time of transfer, the woman's blood pressure was recorded at 90/60, with a saturation level of 97. The expectant mother's condition was evaluated by the emergency doctor prior to her being loaded into the ambulance, and her hemodynamic indicators were deemed stable as she was transported to Yerevan.

If the woman had been unconscious or in the condition described in the statement issued by the Republican Institute, she would undoubtedly not have been sent to Yerevan.

The obstetrician-gynecologist Rozanna Vanyan, who received the woman on the way, had established communication with the emergency doctor. It was noted that the woman was conscious and able to speak during the ambulance ride. Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated sharply upon arrival at the Republican Institute, leading to immediate transfer to the intensive care unit, where the death of the pregnant woman was recorded shortly thereafter.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the relatives and close ones of the deceased expectant mother, and remind that a criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. All questions will be answered upon the completion of the investigation.
