Citizens Detained in Fizgorodok: Situation Escalates Again

“FizGorodok Yerevan” Facebook page reports: “This morning (exactly one year after the illegal construction activities began and our active struggle commenced), ‘Ratko’ LLC has resumed construction works in the Physics Institute area.

Due to our legal battle, the issues identified have yet to be resolved by the responsible authorities. According to the information from our lawyers, the construction permit is not approved, and no construction works can be carried out on-site.

The works that started in the morning faced peaceful and legal resistance from residents, who demanded to see a valid construction permit, which was not presented. At this moment, two citizens have been detained: lawyer Hayk Harutyunyan and physicist Mikael Aganyants.

We demand the Yerevan City Hall to halt the construction activities and to resume meetings with residents, during which the issues related to the documentation package of ‘Ratko’ LLC should be examined and assessed.”
