Armenian Ambassador to Georgia Recall: Who is the New Ambassador
The Armenian Ambassador to Georgia, Ruben Sadoyan, has been recalled from his position, as per a decree signed by the President of Armenia. With another presidential decree, a new ambassador has been appointed.
“Based on the Prime Minister's proposal, and in accordance with the second point of the first part of Article 132 of the Constitution, as well as the first part of Article 14 of the Law on Diplomatic Service, Ashot Smbatyan has been appointed as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia (residing in Tbilisi),” the decree states.
It is noteworthy that Ruben Sadoyan was appointed as the Armenian Ambassador to Georgia in October 2017. Regarding Ashot Smbatyan, he served as the Armenian Ambassador to Germany from 2015 to 2021 and simultaneously represented Armenia in Liechtenstein from 2018 to 2021. He is married and has two children.
