Tsarukyan Foundation Acquires New Land Parcels on the Slopes of Hatis

Former National Assembly member and leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan's charitable foundation has acquired land parcels on the slopes of Mount Hatis. This was reported by "HETQ".

The information reveals that three separate land plots located within the administrative territory of the Akunk settlement in the Kotayk province were transferred to the "Gagik Tsarukyan" foundation on August 10, 2022. Based on the results of auctions held on July 17 of the same year, the head of the Akunk community, Hunan Rubenyan, decided to transfer a total of 7 hectares of agricultural land to the "Gagik Tsarukyan" foundation.

In exchange for the plots of 3.5, 1, and 2.5 hectares, the "Gagik Tsarukyan" foundation is required to pay, or has already paid, 2 million 766 thousand drams to the community budget.

The mentioned plots are located northwest of the Saint Peter's Church on the slopes of Hatis. Previously, "HETQ" reported that the "Gagik Tsarukyan" charitable foundation had acquired a total of 9 land parcels located on Mount Hatis. By cross-referencing the cadastral coordinates of these plots with satellite imagery, it becomes evident that they are situated directly at the peak of Mount Hatis. The land parcels acquired by the "Gagik Tsarukyan" foundation also include the archaeological site known as the Hatis Fortress.

Hunan Rubenyan confirmed that the transferred land parcels are indeed located at the peak of Mount Hatis. According to Rubenyan, a 100-hectare plot of land was transferred to the "Tsarukyan" foundation by the community, while 46 hectares were sold to citizen Norik Petrosyan in 2008, who later gifted it to the "Gagik Tsarukyan" foundation.

Gagik Tsarukyan plans to erect a monumental statue of Jesus Christ at the summit of Hatis. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed preliminary positive feedback regarding Tsarukyan's idea, although the Armenian Apostolic Church opposes it.
