Protest Against Prime Minister Pashinyan's Resignation Underway
On August 23, a rally demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commenced in Republic Square, Yerevan.
The rally was announced on August 10 by Edgar Ghazaryan, the former Ambassador of Armenia to Poland and former head of the Constitutional Court staff, who declared the formation of an Independence Movement.
According to the plan, Pashinyan is expected to resign by September 21, either voluntarily, through legal proceedings, or via a vote of no confidence from one-third of the National Assembly.
The former ambassador considered it likely that government deputies would themselves vote no confidence against Pashinyan. Ghazaryan also outlined plans for three rallies, with the first taking place on August 23, the second on September 2 as part of the Resistance Movement's actions, and the third on September 21, which will coincide with discussions on the initiative for Pashinyan's resignation at Parliament.
At that time, he assured that the new movement is not related to the Resistance Movement. According to him, the new movement does not contradict the actions to be carried out by allies of the Resistance Movement.
