«We are going to have a disaster at a certain moment». Pashinyan spoke about possible dangers from carousels

We must clearly move towards establishing standards in the country, as compromising with substandard realities will inevitably bring about disaster. This was stated today, August 18, by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a regular government meeting.

“Let’s not go for compromises. I’m not saying we should take a strict approach, close everything down, and ban everything, but we must uphold safety regulations. We need to adopt new standards. Every year in spring, I invite and state that the season has opened, and this many carousels are operational in our country. Yes, the Ministry of Emergency Situations should conduct inspections, but it’s obvious to me that no matter how normal everything might seem with reports, at a certain moment, we are going to have a disaster, because just by visually inspecting our carousels, 70 percent are signs of impending disaster. How many people will be affected? Will there be casualties or not? Afterward, we will say, ‘Didn’t we see that all this was happening for so many years?’” said Nikol Pashinyan.
