When and Where the Funeral of Seyran Saroyan Will Take Place

On August 12, General Seyran Saroyan passed away after a long illness. His memorial service will be held tomorrow, August 14, at 6:00 PM at 83 Mashtots Street in Ejmiatsin.

The funeral will take place on August 15 in his birthplace, the village of Haikashen.

Earlier, it was reported that General Seyran Saroyan had died. Sedrak Firdusi Saroyan (born September 3, 1967, in Haikashen, Ejmiatsin Region, Armenian SSR, USSR) was an Armenian military and political figure, who held the rank of Major General (since 2000) and served as a deputy in the National Assembly of Armenia in its 5th and 6th convocations.

Seyran Saroyan graduated from the Ministry of Defense's advanced academic courses in Armenia in 1993 and from the Russian Armed Forces General Staff Academy in 2006, specializing in 'State Military Security'. From 1985 to 1987, he served in the Soviet Army. He actively participated in the Nagorno-Karabakh movement. Under his command, units that later became the “Ardzvik-10” battalion fought in the battles for the liberation of Karvachar and Kashatagh.

From 1993 to 2007, he held various command positions including that of a regiment, brigade, and the 2nd and later 4th army corps in the Armenian Armed Forces.

His ranks and awards include the title of Major General conferred upon him in 2000. In 1994, he was awarded the 'Medal of Courage' by the President of Armenia, in 1996 he received the 'Combat Cross', and in 2006 he was decorated with the 'Medal for Services to the Homeland' of the first degree. He was awarded the 'Marshal Baghramyan' in 1997 and the 'Drastamat Kanayan' in 2002 by the Minister of Defense, along with the medals for 'Impeccable Service' of the first and second degrees in 2003 and 2004.

In terms of political activity, Saroyan was elected as a deputy of the National Assembly of the 5th convocation from electoral district number 19 on May 12, 2007. He left the Republican Party of Armenia and politics in 2018. He was married and had four children.
