In Which City Will Armenian and Turkish Representatives Meet?
In the framework of the bilateral relations normalization process, a new meeting of Armenian and Turkish representatives may take place in September in the city of Kars. The information is reported by TASS, citing diplomatic sources from the 'Ulusal' television channel.
The meeting is expected to involve representatives from the foreign affairs, trade, and transport ministries of both countries. As a result of the meeting, technical issues will begin to be developed, and agreements will be reached on these matters.
The Turkish state TRT television channel had earlier reported on the potential fifth round of negotiations between the special representatives of Turkey and Armenia. According to that report, Turkey could also serve as a platform for the meeting.
According to the source, Turkish representatives have already conducted inspections in the regions bordering Armenia. Specifically, they have focused on the need for renovations of the Alijian bridge, which connects the two countries, and the highway leading to it, in the Iğdır province.
Additionally, they have surveyed the ruins of the city of Ani and other cultural sites related to Armenia. In Turkey, there are expectations that Armenian citizens will show significant interest in visiting border areas. It has been noted that some locals have already started converting their homes into guesthouses.
It is also important to mention that the spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vahan Hunanyan, stated in an interview with Sputnik Armenia that there are currently no agreements regarding the next meeting of the special representatives of Armenia and Turkey on the normalization of relations.
