I Have Asked Pashinyan for Clarification on What Document the Transfer of Communities is Based on: Tovmasyan
Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, Taguhi Tovmasyan, made a post on her Facebook page titled, "Nikol Pashinyan's regime has become synonymous with dispossession for us. We are losing our homeland piece by piece."
“It is unfortunate that, by August 25, the residents of Berdzor, Aghavno, and Nerk'in Sus communities must leave their homes, and these settlements will be handed over to Azerbaijan. Without a fight, Nikol Pashinyan's promised administration is surrendering land to the enemy, thus diminishing the security level of our Armenian states. The government also surrendered Karvachar without a single bullet being fired, where, under the laws of war, the enemy could not have advanced, and we could have preserved our homeland. This indifference of the authorities confirms once again that these people do not value Artsakh at all. They have separated our two states...
I have sent a letter to N. Pashinyan demanding explanations about who authorized the transfer of these communities and on what legally binding document this is being implemented. To date, the Government of Armenia has not stated whether negotiations were held to prevent the transfer of the mentioned communities and what results were achieved. If it was already known that these settlements would be handed over, why were no preparatory works carried out in a timely manner, but on the contrary, various investments were made in these communities? Another issue is the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage, regarding whether the Government of Armenia has obtained guarantees that Azerbaijani atrocities will not damage the historical and cultural heritage and graves in the mentioned communities.
Members of the National Assembly of Artsakh are warning that the resources for evacuation are insufficient to properly organize the evacuation process, and therefore I am also preparing to address my international partners regarding the extension of the deadlines for handing over the Berdzor, Aghavno, and Nerk'in Sus communities. I do not know what the outcome will be, but this is the last step I can take as the Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs.”
