The Armenia Alliance Releases a Statement
The Armenia Alliance has released a statement:
“Dear compatriots, in recent days, due to the military criminal aggression, coercion, and policies of pressure carried out by Azerbaijan, along with the defeatist stance of the current authorities in Armenia, new settlements face the danger of being depopulated and handed over to the enemy. A specific deadline has also been stated - August 25, regarding which the responsible authorities have not even provided any position.
Azerbaijan is evidently breaching the trilateral statement of November 9 by threatening to close the corridor connecting Armenia to Artsakh before the deadline established in that document, while demanding the handover of adjacent settlements. The aforementioned trilateral statement does not foresee the surrender of settlements for the purposes of road construction, nor does it contain provisions stating that the new road must bypass Berdzor, Aghavno, and Sus communities. Essentially, such a situation is genocidal behavior under international norms.
Therefore, we are witnessing yet another gross violation of international law, manifestly illegal demands, and the willingness of the authorities of Armenia and Artsakh to satisfy them at least gives grounds to assert that we are once again dealing with agreements reached behind the backs of the people, with 'oral understandings' and verbal arrangements. Presenting August 25 as a deadline to the public is just a testimony to that.
These events have once again reaffirmed our conviction that peace proposed through unilateral concessions cannot be real, stable, and long-term. Due to the inconsistent and ambiguous policy of the Armenian authorities, there is no proper cooperation in any direction – be it peacekeeping forces, the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group, or international organizations in general.
The ever-present defeat embodied by the authorities continues daily to threaten irreversible new losses for Armenia and Artsakh. The unification of the Armenian people is now imperative, regardless of all the divisive lines drawn by these authorities, which have consistently incited hatred. A national consolidation is imperative, united as Armenia, Artsakh, and the Diaspora.
The current authorities, by serving Turkish-Azerbaijani interests, are actually implementing the program of depopulation of Artsakh together with these forces. The wheel of defeat must be stopped as soon as possible, which is only achievable by removing the current authorities. Only then will it be possible to preserve what has been achieved, avoid new losses, and reach real peace.”
