Car Crashes into Gas Pipeline and Catches Fire
On August 8, at 23:07, the Tavush regional crisis management center received a report that a traffic accident had occurred at the beginning of the Achajur village, where a car had collided with a gas pipeline and was on fire. There were no casualties.
A firefighting team consisting of three units from the Emergency Situations Ministry's regional rescue department was dispatched to the scene. It was found that a "Mercedes-Benz ML" had left the driving lane of the Ijevan-Achajur highway at the 12th kilometer and collided with a gas pipeline, leading to a gas leak and subsequent fire.
The fire was contained at 00:09 on August 9 and extinguished by 00:13. The car and the gas that had leaked from the pipeline were burned. Firefighters removed the vehicle from the traffic lane and secured the area.
