Major Accident Occurs in Aragatsotn Province: 3 Casualties
Today, on August 9, a major and tragic car accident took place in Aragatsotn Province. Around 08:30 AM, on the 45 km stretch of the Yerevan-Arshatak highway, two vehicles - an Opel and a truck with Russian license plates - collided.
According to photo journalist Gagik Shamshyan from the scene, three people were killed on the spot, and three others were taken to the Ashtarak Medical Center with various degrees of bodily injuries. The first to assist the injured were local villagers, followed by the firefighters from the Ashtarak Fire and Rescue Squad No. 19 who arrived promptly.
The rescuers extracted the deceased from the vehicle using specialized equipment.
The police and investigative department are currently trying to determine the identity of the drivers, deceased, and injured individuals.
The photojournalist reports that as a result of the collision, both vehicles veered off the roadway, crashed into concrete barriers, and ended up in the gardens of three residents' homes, over 200 meters away. The residents have once again suffered significant material losses, and this has become a recurring issue for them. They find themselves facing damage due to car accidents repeatedly, as insurance companies promise compensation when they arrive at the scene, but it often turns out to be mere empty promises.
