China's Defense Ministry: 'The American Side Said One Thing, But Did Another'
China's Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian has stated that the U.S. is creating a crisis and then trying to justify its erroneous statements and actions, distorting facts and shifting blame onto others. Beijing opposes this. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
“The United States has fully provoked and unilaterally created the tense situation in the Taiwan Strait, therefore, the American side should bear full responsibility for the serious consequences,” stated Wu Qian.
He noted that China had previously expressed its serious position regarding the relations between Beijing and Washington, the armed forces of both countries, as well as the issue of Taiwan, especially in relation to the visit of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. However, the American side said one thing but did another, encouraging and supporting Pelosi's visit, which incited tension in the Taiwan Strait.
“China's corresponding countermeasures have become a necessary warning in response to the provocations of the U.S. and Taiwan, and the defense of national sovereignty and security is entirely justified and appropriate,” he stated.
According to him, the U.S. is creating a crisis on one hand, while claiming the need to control and manage it on the other, seeking justifications and cover for its erroneous statements and actions, for its provocations. They even create public uproar, distort facts, and attempt to shift responsibility onto others. China categorically opposes this.
