We Urge Peacekeepers to Take All Necessary Actions: Artsakh National Assembly Factions

The factions of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh have released a statement. The statement particularly mentions:

“Since August 1, Azerbaijani armed units have carried out provocative military actions in various sections of the contact line between Artsakh and Azerbaijan, resulting in casualties and injuries. The National Assembly factions of Artsakh consider Azerbaijan's latest violations a gross breach of the ceasefire regime established in November 2020, aimed at continuing a policy of hatred and creating panic in Artsakh. Azerbaijan regularly accuses Armenia and Russia of failing to comply with the trilateral arrangements of November 9, despite the fact that almost no provisions of that statement have been implemented by Azerbaijan itself. This behavior is not new to us. Azerbaijan has consistently pursued a policy of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement, systematically violating the vital interests and rights of the citizens of the Republic of Artsakh. Recent events, with the presence of casualties and injuries, once again confirm that peaceful coexistence within Azerbaijan is excluded for Artsakh. Peace is the highest value, however, peace cannot exist under the threat of force, with continuous violations of human rights and dignity.

During the 44-day war in 2020, we witnessed the silence of the international community, and all the crimes committed against the people of Artsakh during that period did not receive adequate condemnation, which has allowed Azerbaijan to continue expanding its aggressive actions.

- We call on the parliaments of various countries and all international organizations to strongly condemn Azerbaijan's recent actions and take practical steps to prevent new atrocities.
- We urge Russian peacekeepers to take all necessary actions to ensure stability along the contact line.
Bowing to all the victims of the Artsakh liberation struggle, we once again reaffirm the right of our people to have a free and independent state as the only guarantee for living in safety and security.”
