North Korea Withdraws from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has lawfully withdrawn from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and asserts its right to self-defense, as stated in a declaration from the DPRK's permanent mission to the United Nations.

Earlier, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stated that the country is "fully prepared for any military confrontation" with the United States. He made these remarks during a speech commemorating the anniversary of the Korean War's end.
