Government Abandons Purchase of New Vehicles for Alen Simonian

Today, during a regular session of the Armenian government, the authorities definitively abandoned the plan to purchase new vehicles for Alen Simonian without any discussion or report.

The justification for the decision, according to the explanation, is not financial savings but rather that the SUVs required by the National Assembly cannot currently be imported into Armenia.

“Due to external factors, particularly the situation in the Russian Federation and the sanctions imposed, 'Toyota Yerevan' LLC is unable to import vehicles with the necessary technical specifications for the National Assembly of Armenia. Therefore, the National Assembly finds it advisable to refrain from the purchasing process for the mentioned vehicles,” the justification states.

As a result, the government has declared the decision to purchase vehicles null and void, and the allocated 54 million AMD will be returned to the budget.
