Details on the Death of a Participant in the Ministry of Defense's Quarterly Gathering
On the night of August 3-4, Atom Razmiki Harutyunyan, a 44-year-old reserve sergeant participating in the Armenian Ministry of Defense's quarterly training gathering, died suddenly in his sleep.
Yerevan.Today contacted the Ministry of Defense for clarification on whether the health conditions of participants are properly checked before transferring to training gatherings and what issues were identified beforehand in this case.
“The circumstances surrounding the participant's death will be clarified as a result of an investigation and appointed forensic examination. Whether the participant of the quarterly gathering presented medical documents regarding their health condition or complaints to the enlistment office, I cannot disclose; there is an ongoing investigation,” said Ministry spokesman Aram Torosyan in an interview with Yerevan.Today, emphasizing that all participants in the quarterly training gatherings had undergone medical examinations according to procedure.
According to government decisions 404 and 405, it is after such examinations that a citizen's eligibility for conscription and service is determined. More details can be found on the website.
