Azerbaijani Media Flooded with Arsen Torosyan's 'Historic' Thoughts

According to the daily newspaper ‘Haygakan Zhamanak,’ let’s start from the end of the story. Three apples fell from the sky—a proponent of peace, a listener, and one that landed on the head of the MP from the ruling Civil Contract Party, Arsen Torosyan, who casts doubt on the victory of the Artsakh liberation struggle of the 1990s.

The story is that the ‘apples of peace’ have been falling every day and hour since the 44-day war, served to the Armenian society as a forbidden but sweet fruit. Some segments of the society have been tempted by the sweetness and aroma of the apple of peace, consuming it and starting to think that we can live peacefully with our so-called neighbors, ‘to say dear, to hear dear.’

‘We have been convinced to choose death,’ says former Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan, a man who once advised parents to buy coffins for their minor children. During the emergence of the first coronavirus cases, he responded to journalists with sarcasm, stating, ‘I will infect all of you now.’ He is a person whose administration witnessed the highest death tolls in the entire history of Armenia, a man whose wife’s medical center did not receive state commissions until 2017, but after the change of government, it became one of the centers receiving the most funds from the state budget (251.6 million AMD over three years).

Finally, he is a man whose ‘historic’ thoughts have recently flooded Azerbaijani media, claiming ‘the Armenian MP confesses they were wrong 30 years ago.’ Azerbaijanis will probably warmly welcome Torosyan, who shares and propagates the same thoughts and ideas, even though he likely watched the war only from the shelters of Stepanakert. And if the sound of the ‘Bayraktar’ drones had pierced his ears, and he felt the adrenaline of being hurled several meters by an artillery strike, perhaps he would have been a tad more modest in his statements. But what can we expect from a person who exuberantly declares about children’s coffins?
